Coach Derek Monroe is entering his second season with the Dolphins, having come on board with Coaches Foggin and Taylor back in 2009. Coach Derek has a broad background in athletics, having both swum and played football during high school in his native Cleveland, OH. Coach Derek then moved to California, where he was on the Occidental University swim team.

In his work with ABSC, Coach Derek has primary responsiblity for assisting with the Dawgs group, though he has helped out in every facet of the team. He has also served as an assistant to coaches Humphries and Foggin. Coach Derek will serve on the Athens Clarke County State meet staff for the 2010 season

Coach Derek is currently working on a Masters Degree in Kinisiology from the University of Georgia. In addition to his involvement in age group swimming, Coach Derek is an avid Masters swimmer, having competed at the 2010 Masters Nationals this spring at Georgia Tech.
